Privacy Policy

Upkeep Ledger ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal maintenance tracking application operated by IdleBit LLC. This policy describes how we handle your information.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address — used for login, password resets, and account notifications. Optional if you use an anonymous (device key) account on either platform.
• Password — stored securely using bcrypt hashing. We never store or see your plain-text password.
• Device key — a randomly generated identifier used for anonymous accounts. Stored on your device and on our servers. Allows you to use the app without an email.

When you use the app, we store the maintenance items and upkeep entries you create. This data is yours and exists solely to provide the service.

When you subscribe to Upkeep Ledger Pro, our payment processor (Stripe) collects and processes your billing information directly. We never see or store your full card number; we receive only the subscription status and a customer identifier from Stripe.

How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and provide the service.
• To send transactional emails (verification, password resets, subscription receipts).
• To collect aggregate, anonymous usage analytics that help us understand how the onboarding flow performs. These analytics do not identify you to third parties.

We do not sell, share, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secured servers hosted by DigitalOcean. All connections use TLS encryption. Access and refresh tokens are stored on your device: in the secure keychain on iOS, in browser localStorage on the web.

Calendar Access (iOS)

If you enable calendar sync in the iOS app, Upkeep Ledger uses Apple's EventKit to create, update, and remove calendar events for your upcoming upkeep dates. This access is used entirely on your device: the app only manages events it created (identified by an Upkeep Ledger link on the event), and it never reads, transmits, or stores any other calendar data. No calendar information is ever sent to our servers or to any third party. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings, and disabling calendar sync removes the events the app created.

Third-Party Services

• DigitalOcean — infrastructure and database hosting.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing. Stripe receives your email and payment details directly when you subscribe.
• Apple — if you purchase a subscription through the iOS app, Apple's standard In-App Purchase mechanisms apply.

These services process data only as needed to operate the app and are bound by their own privacy policies.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the address below.

Children's Privacy

Upkeep Ledger is designed for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
